The Rex’s are back in the city! Canberra’s first T-Rex novelty races return to Glebe Park on Tuesday 1st November 2022.
With the goal of providing a cruelty-free, fun alternative to watching or supporting horse racing, the Compassionate Stakes demonstrates that you don’t need to exploit animals to have a great time.
Races are open to the public – contestants can elect to hire a suit from us or purchase and bring their own T-Rex suit.
Races will be held every 30 minutes starting from 12:30 pm, with the grand finale, THE COMPASSIONATE STAKES, battled out at 3 pm.
Information stalls from event hosts, Little Oak Sanctuary, and the Animal Defenders Office will provide information about animal protection matters.
The Fashion Off The Field competition is also back with a fabulous, feel-good twist; three of Canberra’s fiercest Drag Queens will be circulating the crowd, in the spirit of the Compassionate Stakes, bestowing prizes on those demonstrating fierce, fabulous or fun fashion!
All this fun is bound to create an appetite, so grab a veggie sausage sizzle from the Little Oak grill or some amazing vegan baked treats from the Tikvah’s Bakery stall!
