NUP TO THE CUP! OFFICIAL MELBOURNE CUP PICNIC STYLE PROTEST!
Opposite Flemington racecourse on Cup Day – Newmarket Reserve.
Are you against the senseless torture of animals?
Do you tolerate certain kinds of sport?
Do you have a penchant for fashion?
And vehemently hate the Melbourne Cup?
If you answered yes to any of the above, then do we have the event for you!
For the 7th year literally running the Coalition for the Protection of Racehorses and Tenfingerz are joining forces to bring you:
‘FARSHANS ON THE FIELD’
Bringing together two of Melbourne’s favourite past times – fashion and sport, join us for a free alternative to the old ‘Race that stops a nation’, to say ‘NUP TO THE CUP!’
Come protest the Cup! And show regular racegoers what cruelty-free fun looks like.
Come witness the fabulously fashionable competitors as they battle out for the grand prize or enter and compete for the grandest of prizes yourself!
It’s like school sports carnival but you’re an adult now and you can sit on the grass, with a drink in hand, and watch people running round a track in their finest finery if you want to.
Protest starts at 10 am
Farshan races will happen from midday-3:30 pm
The main event – THE HUMAN RACE – will be live-streamed at the same time as the official Melbourne Cup.
4-6pm music + dancing + protest
Vegan food and drink available for purchase. Bring your own cup, plate and cutlery if you can.
All proceeds going to the Coalition for the Protection of Racehorse.
